Decluttering Now

Decluttering is all about simplifying your space and getting rid of things that no longer serve you. Here’s a guide to help you get started.

Set Clear Goals. Decide why you want to declutter. Are you trying to create more space, reduce stress, or organize your life? This will help you stay motivated.

Start Small. Begin with a small area—like a drawer, shelf, or countertop. Tackling one small section at a time makes it feel more manageable.

Sort Items into Categories.
Keep: Items you use regularly or that hold significant value.
Donate/Sell: Items in good condition that you no longer need.
Trash/Recycle: Items that are broken, expired, or unusable.

Ask the Tough Questions. If you’re unsure whether to keep something, ask yourself:
Do I use this regularly?
Does it add value to my life?
Does it spark joy?
Have I used it in the past year?

Set Time Limits. Don’t feel like you have to declutter everything in one go. Set a timer (e.g., 15–30 minutes) so you don’t get overwhelmed.

Organize What’s Left. After getting rid of unnecessary items, organize what you’ve decided to keep. Use storage bins, labels, or shelving to keep things tidy.

Commit to Regular Maintenance. Decluttering doesn’t stop after one session. Set a routine to go through your space every few months to keep it in check.

Digitally Declutter. Don’t forget about digital spaces—emails, photos, apps, etc. Go through files, delete duplicates, and organize things into folders.

Celebrate Your Progress. Acknowledge the effort you’ve put in, whether it’s a small victory or a big accomplishment. This will encourage you to keep going!
